Caption: The seven-branched candelabrum in Braunschweig Cathedral originally dates from 1170/80, and is one of the largest surviving medieval bronze objects. It owes significant parts to a 19th-century restoration. It was originally placed Iat the tomb of Duke Henry the Lion (d. 1195).. After the candelabrum had been dismantled and removed in 1728, it was put back up in the 19th century. In 1895 the lost parts of its base were recreated by Friedrich Küsthardt. The Braunschweiger Dom, Brunswick Cathedral (German: Dom St. Blasii (et Johannis), English: Collegiate Church of Ss. Blaise and John the Baptist) is a large Lutheran church in the City of Braunschweig (English:: Brunswick), a city in Lower Saxony, Germany, north of the Harz Mountains at the farthest navigable point of the river Oker. The Dom was built between 1173 and 1195.
