Caption: The Protestant Brothers' Church "St. Ulrici Brothers" in Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, is a former Franciscan church that was originally dedicated to Saints Mary , Francis and Bernward . It was the centre of a partially preserved monastery complex. The bronze statue is of Johannes Bugenhagen (1485–1558), Martin Luther's closest collaborator and confessor, who gave his first sermon on May 21, 1528 (Ascension Day) in the Brothers' Church.
